The Venue

The club was originally formed on 13th June 1983 as Aylestone Chess Club based at The Black Horse, Narrow Lane in Aylestone. The club then moved to the nearby Union Inn. The club then moved to The Plough Inn, Station Road, Littlethorpe, Leicester in 2000, changing its name to Littlethorpe Chess Club in the process. Littlethorpe became the largest chess club in Leicestershire with, at one time, 11 teams competing in the Leicestershire league. For a while we also competed in the Coventry league, too. Nowadays, we are a much smaller club and, in Spring 2009, we moved to The Heathcote Arms (pictured), in Croft. We briefly considered renaming ourselves 'Hit Me - The Castle Hotel Parrot' (an anagram of Heathcote Arms Littlethorpe), but then settled on The Heathcote Arms Chess Club.

We currently run two teams in the Leicestershire Chess League and cater for all levels of play.

Home matches are played on Tuesday's at 7.30pm, either in the restaurant or the skittle alley. All players, members and non-members alike, are most welcome.
